Oka River (English spelling)
(1) A tributary of the right bank of the Volga River that flows through almost the center of European Russia in the Russian Federation. It is 1,500 km long and has a drainage area of ​​245,000 km2. It originates in the Central Russian Plateau, flows northeast from Kaluga, and then flows east through an area about 80 km south of Moscow, east of Ryazan, and joins the Volga at Nizhny Novgorod. It has many tributaries, including the Moscow River that flows through the city of Moscow. Except during the winter freezing season (late October to April), it is navigable up to the upper reaches of Kaluga, and its main ports are Kaluga, Dzerzhinsk, Ryazan, and Nizhny Novgorod.
