Population movement - migration

Japanese: 人口移動 - じんこういどう（英語表記）migration

Generally, it refers to the spatial and regional movement of population, but the United Nations defines it as one that involves a change of address from the point of origin to the point of destination. Therefore, it does not include commuting, working away from home, seasonal migration, or short-term travel, which do not involve a change of address even if they are spatial movements. Population movements are broadly divided into domestic population movements and international population movements (migration). Domestic population movements include movements due to the collective nature of the migrants (e.g., individuals, families, or groups), movements by region (e.g., within a local community, urban-rural migration, and intercity migration), and movements by purpose of movement (e.g., occupational migration, school migration, etc.). In modern societies, occupational migration from rural to urban areas is actively taking place, either by individuals or families, in search of a higher standard of living and better employment opportunities.
