A cultivation method mainly seen in Japan's paddy rice cultivation, in which seeds are sown one to two months earlier than normal cultivation, shifting the growing season forward. Although it varies by region, seeds are sown from mid-to-late March to early April, and harvesting takes place in mid-August or at the latest early September. It began in the mid-1950s and spread mainly in warm areas of southwestern Japan, and is also widely practiced in Chiba Prefecture in the Kanto region. The varieties used are different from those used in normal cultivation in each region, and varieties from the Tohoku region that produce ears earlier are used.
