At the age of 68, he published the Glossarium ad scriptores mediae et infimae latinitatis, a three-volume work that was expanded posthumously (1733-36) to six volumes, which was expanded to seven volumes by the Benedictine Saint-Maur, and ten volumes in 1883-87. Du Cange is so famous that this dictionary is now the dictionary of choice for him.
