A general term for insects belonging to the Campodeidae family of the order Campodea. They are widely distributed around the world and are also called Campodea. Seven species have been recorded from Japan, including Campodea ishii . They live underground, in fallen leaves, or under fallen trees and stones, and feed on plant matter, humus, and fungi (hyphae and spores). They are white, slender insects with a body length of 3 to 6 mm, without wings or eyes. Their mandibles and mandibles are normally stored inside the skull, making them internal openings, and their antennae are bead-shaped and consist of more than 20 segments. コムシ目ナガコムシ科Campodeidaeに属する昆虫の総称。広く世界各地に分布し,カムポデア類とも呼ばれる。日本からはイシイナガコムシCampodea ishiiなど7種類が記録されている。地中,落葉の中,倒木や石の下などにすみ,植物質,腐植質,菌類(菌糸,胞子)などを食べる。体長3~6mmの白色の細長い虫で,翅はなく,眼もない。大あごや小あごが平素は頭蓋の中に収まっている内腮口(ないさいこう)で,触角は数珠状で20節以上からなる。
