Common Okinawa dialect - Kyotsuu Okinawa Hougen

...The Naha dialect (the old Naha dialect) differs somewhat from the Shuri dialect in terms of accent and other points, but both belong to the central and southern Okinawa dialects (central Okinawa dialects). This dialect area, which occupies the southern half of Okinawa Island, is where the majority of the population of the Ryukyu Islands is concentrated, and the dialects of each settlement are relatively similar. Based on this area, a common spoken language that could be called the common Okinawa dialect has been established, centered on the Shuri and Naha dialects. This dialect is also relatively well understood outside of this area.
