A former town in Kasa district, located in the middle reaches of the Yura River in northern Kyoto Prefecture. The main settlement, Komori, is a key transportation hub between Fukuchiyama and Miyazu, where the Kitakinki Tango Railway runs. It is one of the prefecture's leading sericulture areas, and the lowlands of the Yura River were prone to flooding. In recent years, textile, low-power electrical appliances, and sewing industries have become popular. Mt. Oe is on the northern border. 京都府北部,由良川中流域を占める加佐郡の旧町。主集落の河守(こうもり)は北近畿タンゴ鉄道が通じる福知山〜宮津間の交通要地。府下有数の養蚕地帯で,由良川の低地は水害常習地であった。近年織物,弱電,縫製業が普及。北境に大江山がある。2006年1月天田郡夜久野町,三和町と福知山市へ編入。96.81km2。5787人(2003)。
