Japanese: 気賀 - きが

This is the central district of Hosoecho area, Kita-ku, Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Former Kiga Town. Located on the north shore of Lake Hamana, downstream of Miyakoda River. Tenryu Hamanako Railway and National Route 362 (Hime Kaido) pass through here. During the Edo period, it was a post station on the Tokaido's side road Honzaka-dori (commonly known as Hime Kaido). In the early years of the Kan'ei era (1624-1644), Kiga Checkpoint was established and was managed by the hatamoto Kiga Kondo clan, who, together with Arai Checkpoint in Lake Nan, controlled the passage of people. In 1843 (Tenpo 14), there was one honjin, one wakihonjin, and eight hatagoya.

Kiga Barrier
This checkpoint was located in Hosoe-cho, Kita-ku, Hamamatsu City, on the former Tokaido side road, Honzaka-dori (commonly known as Hime-kaido). It is said to have been established by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1601 (Keicho 6). In 1990 (Heisei 2), the building was restored using documents from the Edo period and parts of the existing checkpoint as references. 静岡県浜松市北区細江町地域の中心地区。旧気賀町。浜名湖北岸、都田(みやこだ)川下流域。天竜浜名湖鉄道、国道362号（姫(ひめ)街道）が通じる。江戸時代、東海道の脇往還(わきおうかん)本坂通（通称姫街道）の宿駅。寛永(かんえい)（1624～1644）初年、気賀関所が置かれ、旗本気賀近藤氏が管理にあたり、湖南の新居(あらい)関所とともに通行の人々を取り締まった。1843年（天保14）本陣1、脇本陣1、旅籠(はたご)屋8。
