Tadayoshi Ouchi - Ouchi Koreyoshi

Japanese:
Tadayoshi Ouchi - Ouchi Koreyoshi
Years of birth: unknown A military commander in the early Kamakura period. Great-grandson of Minamoto Yoshimitsu and son of Hiraga Yoshinobu. He fought alongside Minamoto Yoshitsune in the Battle of Ichinotani (1184), and was appointed Shugo of Iga Province shortly after. The name Ouchi comes from Ouchi-sho (Ueno City) in the province, but it is not clear whether Koreyoshi based his base there at the time, or whether he had been based there for some time before. He was instrumental in the suppression of both Ise and Iga provinces, and in Bunji 1 (1185) he was appointed Sagami no Kami. After the death of Minamoto no Yoritomo, he seems to have spent a lot of time in Kyoto, arresting Goto Motokiyo and others, and pursuing the remnants of Kajiwara Kagetoki. He also began to serve the retired Emperor Gotoba. He maintained his position well as the Minamoto clan was eliminated one after another, and he was appointed Shugo of several provinces, Suruga no Kami, Shuri Gon no Daifu, etc. He is thought to have died around Jokyu 1 (1219).
