In contrast to letterpress printing, this type of printing plate has a recessed image area where ink will be applied, and a raised non-image area. After the entire surface of the plate is inked, the ink on the non-image areas is removed and the ink that has penetrated into the recesses is transferred to the paper. There are gravure printing, which uses photographs, and engraved intaglio printing, which is suitable for printing on banknotes, stamps, and other items that require the reproduction of precise lines. →Lithographic printing →Related topics Printing | Printing press Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
