Wang Qingren (English spelling)

1768‐1831 An outstanding physician from the Qing Dynasty in China. His pen name was Xunchen, and he was born in Yutian (Hebei Province). Although he made many clinical contributions, he is better known for his anatomy and physiological theories. He often went to the execution grounds to observe the organs of the corpses, and in 1830 (the 10th year of the Daoguang era) he wrote two volumes of Ilin Kaisaku (Medical Treatment of the Dead), in which he pointed out errors in the conventional theories of organs, such as the Xinbaoluo theory and the Mingmen theory, and presented a new theory. Although it still contains errors when viewed from a modern perspective, it is certainly an advancement in the history of Chinese medicine.
