...The surname of the imperial family of the Qing dynasty in China. In Manchu, it is called Aisin gioro. The family of Nurhaci, the founder of the Qing dynasty, originally had the surname Gyoro (Gyoro), but Nurhaci is said to have first adopted the name Aisin gioro in 1583 (11th year of the Wanli era) when he raised an army to take revenge on Nikan Weilan, who had killed his grandfather and father.
