Luminous flux

A quantity that represents the brightness of light, and is defined as the amount of visible light transmitted per unit time. The unit lumen (lm) is the luminous flux emitted from a point light source with a luminous intensity of 1 cd (candela) within a solid angle of 1 sr (steradian), where 1 lm = 1 cd sr. Brightness is a sensory quantity determined by the eye and varies from person to person. Therefore, the standard relative luminosity of the average standard observer is defined, and this is used to calculate the luminous flux from the physically measurable radiant flux.
