The area north of the Nikko volcanic group, Kuriyama Village in Shioya County upstream of the Kinu River, is sometimes called Ura-Nikko (Oku-Kinu), and the area from the southern part of Nikko City to the northwestern part of Kanuma City and the northern part of the Ashio Mountains including the eastern part of Ashio Town, is sometimes called Mae-Nikko.
