Linguistically and culturally they are closely related to the Evenki people. The Even people living in the north depended on hunting and reindeer breeding, using reindeer sleds as a means of transportation, but the Even people living on the Sea of ​​Okhotsk coast live a semi-sedentary life, fishing, and hunting marine mammals, using dog sleds as a means of transportation. During the Soviet era, they were incorporated into kolkhozes.
