Japanese: エベン族 - エベンぞく（英語表記）Even

Indigenous people living in Yakutia, parts of the Chukotka Peninsula, and the northeastern coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. Formerly known as the Lamut people. Population: 17,200. Linguistically and culturally they are closely related to the Evenki people. The Even people living in the north depended on hunting and reindeer breeding, using reindeer sleds as a means of transportation, but the Even people living on the Sea of Okhotsk coast live a semi-sedentary life, fishing, and hunting marine mammals, using dog sleds as a means of transportation. During the Soviet era, they were incorporated into kolkhozes.

北アジアのヤクート地方，チュクチ半島の一部および北東部のオホーツク海沿岸に居住する先住民。旧称ラムート族。人口約1万 7200。言語，文化のうえではエベンキ族と密接な関係をもっている。生業は北方に住むエベン族では狩猟とトナカイ飼育であり，運搬手段としてトナカイぞりが用いられたが，オホーツク海沿岸のエベン族では半定住生活，漁労，海獣狩猟が行われ，ここでは運搬手段として犬ぞりが使われた。ソ連時代にはコルホーズに組込まれていた。
