…In May 1926, he successfully flew across the North Pole with Amundsen and Nobile in the airship Norge, which he had purchased. In 1931, he participated in an Arctic expedition with Hugo Eckener (1868-1954) in the Zeppelin airship LZ127, staying above the polar region for 106 hours and conducting scientific observations. In August of the same year, he participated in an Arctic dive with GH Wilkins, observed the polar underwater world in the Nautilus, and later teamed up with Wilkins to attempt a flight across the Antarctic. …
