There are General JAS Standards, Specific JAS Standards, Organic JAS Standards, and JAS Standards for the Disclosure of Production Information. Products that meet the standards can be labeled with the JAS Mark. JAS Standards. [Additional Information] Types of JAS marks JAS mark : A mark given to food and forest products that meet the general JAS standards for quality, such as grade, ingredients, and performance. Some products can be graded as "special grade," "high grade," or "standard grade" depending on the quality. Specific JAS mark : A mark placed on foods that meet specific JAS standards for special production and manufacturing methods. Applies to aged ham and sausages, hand-pulled dried noodles, local chicken, etc. Organic JAS mark : A mark placed on agricultural crops, livestock products, processed foods, etc. that meet the organic JAS standards, such as not using pesticides or chemical fertilizers, feeding organic feed, and refraining from using food additives. JAS Production Information Disclosure Mark : A mark placed on beef or pork produced in a manner that meets the JAS Production Information Disclosure Standards, and on which information such as feeding and administration of veterinary medicines has been made public, and on processed foods (such as tofu) on which information such as ingredients and manufacturing processes has been made public. JAS constant temperature controlled distribution mark : A mark given to processed foods (boxed lunches, etc.) that are distributed at a consistent temperature throughout the entire process from production to sale.
