…a rebellion (816-837) led by Bābak (?-838), a leader of the Khorramites in Azerbaijan. Bābak was from Mada'in (Ctesiphon), and became a disciple of the leader of the Khorramites in Azerbaijan, Javizhan, and succeeded him after his death. In 816, he led a rebellion in the mountains of Azerbaijan.
