...Its symbol was Ultima Thule, a legendary island in the far north known in the Greek and Roman era. The Society was a small organization of several dozen members, and carried out research to magically prove the superiority of the Aryan race. However, it gained influence on politics for a time when its members included Dietrich Eckart (1868-1923), who made anti-Semitism clear, and Hitler, and it is said to have formed part of the ideological background of early Nazism. Although it disappeared after 1940, it was reorganized in Munich in the 1980s with the rise of neo-Nazism in Germany, and has resumed activities almost identical to those in the 1920s. ...
