...Anyone who wants to become a barrister must belong to one of these inns, dine a certain number of times, and pass a qualifying examination, but even after obtaining the qualification, he or she remains in that inn and is subject to a certain level of supervision. However, currently, the training of barristers and the administration of the qualifying examination are carried out by the Council of Legal Education, which is a higher-level body, and above that is the Senate of the Inns of Court and the Bar, which governs the entire bar, including the establishment of standards for granting qualifications and disciplinary measures. As the name Inns of Court suggests, it is said that the origins of Inns of Court date back to the 14th century, when future lawyers lived together in inns, similar to university colleges, where seniors taught juniors and studied together on their own, for practical training at the King's central court.
