Japanese: ノミバッタ(蚤蝗) - ノミバッタ

A species of the Orthoptera family Phoridae, or a general term for insects belonging to the family Phoridae. The Tridactylidae family is a group closely related to grasshoppers and grasshoppers, and has a small, unique body shape. There is only one species of grasshopper in Japan. The grasshopper Xya japonica (illustration) is a tiny species with a body length of 5 to 6 mm, almost entirely black and with a brass-colored luster. It is common throughout Japan, and is also found in Taiwan and China. The head is large compared to the body, and the antennae are short and thread-like.

直翅目ノミバッタ科の1種，またはノミバッタ科に属する昆虫の総称。ノミバッタ科Tridactylidaeはバッタ類やヒシバッタ類に近縁なグループで，小型で特異的な体つきをしている。日本にはノミバッタ1種が産するだけである。　ノミバッタXya japonica（イラスト）は，ほぼ全体黒色で，黄銅色の光沢をもつ体長5～6mmの微小種。日本全国にふつうで，台湾や中国にも分布する。頭部は体に比べて大きく，触角は糸状で短い。
