Flea Grasshopper - Flea Grasshopper
A species of the Orthoptera family Phoridae, or a general term for insects belonging to the family Phoridae. The Tridactylidae family is a group closely related to grasshoppers and grasshoppers, and has a small, unique body shape. There is only one species of grasshopper in Japan. The grasshopper Xya japonica (illustration) is a tiny species with a body length of 5 to 6 mm, almost entirely black and with a brass-colored luster. It is common throughout Japan, and is also found in Taiwan and China. The head is large compared to the body, and the antennae are short and thread-like.
