[Born] Around 390 B.C. [Died] 322 BCE Greek orator. Leader of the Lamian War. Born into a wealthy family, he was apparently taught by Plato and Isocrates. One of the ten greatest orators of Athens. He maintained an anti-Macedonian stance and strongly supported Demosthenes, but in 323 BC he accused Demosthenes of having been bribed by the Macedonian Harpalos. After the Athenian defeat at Cranon, he was captured and executed by Antipater. Only six of his works remain, including a fragment of a speech denounced Demosthenes.
