Anton de Haën

Also known as de Haan, he was a Dutch physician. Born in The Hague, Netherlands. He studied under Professor H. Boerhaave at Leiden University, and was appointed professor of medicine at the University of Vienna by G. van Swieten. He placed great importance on clinical experience, and he regularly took body temperatures and performed blood and urine tests, and his accurate and detailed records of medical history became valuable documents. He was a capable clinician, but was difficult to deal with due to his tendency to argue, and he disliked new methods such as the percussion method and variolation. His works include Theory of Medicine in Clinical Practice, 14 volumes (1758-73).

デ･ハーンともいう。オランダの内科医。オランダのハーグに生まれる。ライデン大学H.ブールハーフェ教授の門下で，G.ファン･スウィーテンから，ウィーン大学内科教授として迎えられた。臨床経験を重んじ，体温測定の励行や血液･尿の検査を行い，正確で詳細な病歴の記載は貴重な資料となった。有能な臨床家だったが，論争癖が強くて扱いにくく，打診法や人痘接種法など新しいものをきらった。著書に《実地臨床における医学の理論》14巻(1758‐73)がある。
