Engi-no-sei-tai (Engi era)

Japanese:
Engi-no-sei-tai (Engi era)
The title of a Heike song. A small secret. Emperor Daigo was also known as the Holy Emperor of Engi. He was the first son of Emperor Uda. In 889 (Kanpei 1), he was proclaimed prince at the age of 5, and crown prince at the age of 9 (Kudoki). After abdicating at the age of 13, he ruled well, and peace continued. This was a blessing, as the rain did not break in the tenth month, and the wind did not rustle on the fifth day (Sanju). One day, during a visit to Shinsen-en Garden, he summoned a heron from the pond, but when the heron did not fly away as ordered by the emperor, he bestowed the fifth rank on the heron, making the world aware of his royal power.
