...A machine that thins the drawn sliver (short fiber bundle) during the spinning process, lightly twists it, and winds it onto a bobbin to make a roving that is thick enough to be used in a spinning machine. When the fiber bundle becomes thin, it is easily stretched or broken, so it is wound with a minimum of twist.
