[Japanese Violin]
The introduction of the violin to Japan dates back to the Meiji period. During the Taisho period, many renowned performers, including Efrem Zimbalist (1889-1985), F. Kreisler, and J. Heifetz, came to Japan, and interest in the violin increased. However, it was not until the Showa period that the violin became popular, and performers such as Suwa Nejiko, Iwamoto Mari, Eto Toshiya, and Iwabuchi Ryutaro were active just before World War II.
