Childebert III

…He was mayor of Austrasia (c. 680), but was defeated by Ebroin, mayor of Neustria and Burgundy (680). After Ebroin's assassination, he took over both offices and, under Childebert III (c. 683-711), reunited the Frankish kingdom (687). His given name, Herstal, comes from the location of his palace (near Liège).
