A city in the central part of Uttar Pradesh, northern India. It is the administrative capital of Shahjahanpur district. It is located about 160 km northwest of Lucknow, on the left bank of the Deokha River. It was built by Afghans in 1647 during the reign of Emperor Shah Jahan. There is a mosque built in the 17th century. Rice, wheat, sugarcane and other agricultural products are collected and distributed, and sugar, oil and carpet manufacturing are carried out in the city.
