Rikuka

A scholar from ancient China in the early Western Han dynasty. Dates of birth and death unknown. A native of Chu. He served Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang, and was sent as an envoy to Nanyue King Wei Tuo to persuade him to submit. After that, he became the Grand Chamberlain and was involved in many diplomatic negotiations. He frequently preached poetry and the classics, and was ordered to write the 12 chapters of the New Words, explaining the reasons for the rise and fall of the Qin and Han dynasties. He also wrote the Chuhan Spring and Autumn Annals. During the reign of Emperor Hui, he hated the power of the Lü clan, a relative of his wife, and cooperated with Prime Minister Chen Ping (?-178 BC) and Grand Marshal Zhou Bo (?-169 BC) to successfully eliminate the Lü clan. His biography can be found in the Records of the Grand Historian and the Book of Han. In "Mengqiu" there is a story called "Lu Jia Fenbao," in which a man bequeaths a fortune of one thousand gold coins to his five children.

中国古代、前漢初期の学者。生没年不詳。楚(そ)の人。高祖劉邦(りゅうほう)に仕え、南越(なんえつ)王慰佗(いだ)のもとに使いして説得服従させた。以後、太中太夫(たいちゅうたいふ)となり、多く外交交渉にあたる。おりあるごとに詩書を説き、命を受けて秦(しん)漢興亡のゆえんを述べて『新語』12篇(へん)を著す。また『楚漢春秋』の著もある。恵帝のとき外戚呂(がいせきりょ)氏の権勢を憎み、丞相陳平(じょうしょうちんぺい)（？―前178）、太尉周勃(たいいしゅうぼつ)（？―前169）らと協力して呂氏一族の排除に成功する。『史記』『漢書(かんじょ)』に伝記がある。『蒙求(もうぎゅう)』に「陸賈分嚢(ぶんのう)」があるが、千金の遺産を5人の子供に遺贈する話である。
