Common name

...Plants are named according to the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature, and animals according to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. The names of organisms in each language are called common names, and in Japanese they are called Wamai. To distinguish them from local names in dialects, they are sometimes called standard Wamai, but since there is no agreement on which standard Wamai should be, they are merely Wamai names that are commonly accepted.
