Edward III - Edward
King of England from the House of Plantagenet (reigned 1327-1377). Son of Edward II. In addition to expanding his influence into Scotland, he took advantage of the extinction of the Capetian dynasty in France to gain real power in Flanders, claiming his right to the throne and sending troops to start the Hundred Years' War. Under his rule, Parliament was divided into two houses. He created the Order of the Garter.
