Yekuana - Yekuana

...Their language belongs to the Carib family, which is widespread in the region. They call themselves Yekuana, and the name Maquilitale means "people of the water" in Arawak-based languages, and they are known for trading with neighboring tribes via waterways. Contact with whites dates back to the mid-18th century.
