...First, the Proletkrit was the parent organization, from which the proletarian poets of the Kuznitsa school, Mikhail P. Gerasimov (1889-1939) and Vasilii V. Kazin (1898-1981), were born. However, dissatisfied with the idealistic romanticism, writers and poets such as DA Furmanov, FV Gladkov, and Aleksandr I. Bezymenskii (1898-1973) gathered in 1922 to form the proletarian literary group Oktyabl', which developed into the VAPP (All-Russian Union of Proletarian Writers), and became closely involved with the literary policy of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. Russian proletarian literature gradually achieved some success in terms of actual works, such as Yu.N. Liberdinsky's One Week (1922), Furmanov's Chapayev (1923), AS Serafimovich's The Iron Stream (1924), AA Fadeev's Destruction (1927), and Bezymensky's poetry, but as a whole it lagged behind the creative level of the avant-garde literary movement centered on "companion literature" and LEF (officially known as the Left Artistic Front, Levyi front iskusstva). It was founded in January 1925, as a successor to the VAPP (All-Russian Association of Proletarian Writers), which was established in 1920. After the Communist Party Central Committee resolution on “Party Policy in the Field of Literature” in June of the same year, the left-wing group led by Valdzin left the association, and, with Averbakh (also known as Auerbach) as secretary-general, it established the theoretical journal “RAPP” and the biweekly critical journal “Literary Outpost”. … *Some of the terminology that mentions "VAPP" is listed below.
