Ezuriko - Ezuriko

Japanese: 江釣子 - えづりこ
Ezuriko - Ezuriko

It is an area of Kitakami City in the central-southern part of Iwate Prefecture. It was merged with Kitakami City on an equal basis in 1991 (Heisei 3). The Waga River flows east through the southern part of the area, with the JR Kitakami Line and National Route 107 running parallel to it. The Tohoku Expressway also passes through the area, and the Kitakami Ezuriko Interchange has been built, and urbanization is progressing. Aiming to move away from rice monoculture, efforts are being made to promote vegetables and beef cattle. On the plateau on the left bank of the Waga River are the Nekoyachi, Gojomaru, Yahata, and Naganuma ancient tombs, which are estimated to date back to the mid-Heian period. The Ezuriko Tomb Group has been designated a national historic site, and is home to the Ezuriko Historical Site Center, which displays excavated items, and the Ezuriko Folk Museum.
