...Plotinus was influenced by the philosophies of Plato, Aristotle, the Stoics, and the Neo-Pythagoreans, but he also inherited a great deal from Oriental and Egyptian mysticism through his teacher Ammonius Saccus. This tendency is called theosophy (theosophia) or theurgia (theurgy). It can be said that with Plotinus, Greek-Roman civilization and Oriental-Egyptian civilization were completely integrated.
