Tado Shrine

Japanese: 多度神社 - たどじんじゃ

Located in Tado-cho, Mie Prefecture (now Kuwana City). Formerly a national shrine. Enshrining Amatsuhikone-no-kami. Said to have been the site of a ceremony to appease the Emperor Yuryaku. A famous shrine listed in the Engishiki. The deity is deeply revered as a god of water and agriculture. The annual festival is held on May 4th, and the Ageuma ritual is performed. Important cultural properties include the Jinguji Garan Engi and Zaizaicho (register of the temple's buildings) and a bronze mirror.
