Ethyl Methyl Ketone
Also known as 2-butanone and methyl ethyl ketone. Chemical formula: CH 3 COC 2 H 5 . Melting point: -87.3°C, boiling point: 79.53°C. Colorless liquid. Produced by the gas-phase dehydrogenation reaction of 2-butyl alcohol using zinc oxide as a catalyst. Used as a solvent for lacquer resin. Ethyl methyl ketone peroxide is produced as an isomer mixture from ethyl methyl ketone and hydrogen peroxide. This peroxide is used as a hardener for unsaturated polyester resin. [Koichi Narasaka]

2‐ブタノン,メチルエチルケトンともいう。化学式CH3COC2H5。融点-87.3℃,沸点79.53℃。無色の液体。酸化亜鉛触媒などを用いる2‐ブチルアルコールの気相脱水素反応によって製造される。ラッカー樹脂の溶剤として用いられる。エチルメチルケトンと過酸化水素からエチルメチルケトンペルオキシドが異性体混合物として生成する。このペルオキシドは不飽和ポリエステル樹脂の硬化剤として利用される。【奈良坂 紘一】
