… In animals, it has a luteal maintenance effect and an effect on water and electrolytes, but the effect in humans is unclear. (3) Adrenocorticotropic hormone ( ACTH ) It acts on the adrenal cortex to promote the synthesis and secretion of adrenal cortical hormones. This hormone protects the body from stress, and when an animal encounters stress, the secretion of this hormone increases, leading to active secretion of adrenal cortical hormones.
