Munku-Sardyk (mountain)

Japanese: ムンク･サルディク[山]（英語表記）Munku‐Sardyk

It is the main peak of the Eastern Sayan mountain range in the southeast of the Russian Federation and in the south of central Siberia. The mountain is made up of granite and is divided into six peaks. Its highest point is 3,491m above sea level. It is located in the eastern Bolshoi Sayan Mountains, which run parallel to the southern part of the Eastern Sayan mountain range, and is on the border between Russia (to the north) and Mongolia (to the south). It overlooks Lake Khuvsgul directly below it to the south. Several glaciers run along the summit, and its total area is about 1.3 ^km2 . The mountainside is covered with forests up to an altitude of about 2,000m, and above that it is grassland. [Watanabe Kazuo]

ロシア連邦南東部，中央シベリア南部にある東サヤン山系の主峰。山体は花コウ岩より構成され，6峰に分かれる。最高点は標高3491m。東サヤン山系の南寄りに並行するボリショイ･サヤン山脈東部にあり，ロシア(北)とモンゴル(南)の国境にあたり，真南の直下にフブスグル湖を見下ろす。山頂付近に数条の氷河をかけ，その総面積は約1.3km²。山腹は標高約2000mまでは森林に覆われ，それ以上は草地である。【渡辺一夫】
