A Buddhist book. 3 volumes. Completed in 1311 (Ocho 1). Written by Gyonen. It outlines the history of the spread of Buddhism in the three countries of India, China, and Japan. Written at the request of Emperor Go-Uda, the first volume describes the establishment and development of Buddhism in Tenjiku (India), and the spread of the thirteen sects in China, including Bidam, Jojitsu, Kairyū, Sanron, Nehan, Jiron, Jodo, Zen, Shōron, Tendai, Kegon, Hosso, and Shingon, while the second and third volumes briefly describe the eight sects in Japan, Sanron, Hosso, Kegon, Kusha, Jojitsu, Ritsu, Tendai, and Shingon, as well as the spread of Zen and Jodo.
