A town in Esashi County, northern Hokkaido. Facing the Sea of Okhotsk. Prospered during the Meiji Period through gold dust mining. Fishing for salmon, trout, herring, and crabs, and the release of salmon and trout are also carried out. Seafood processing is thriving, and dairy farming is also carried out.
