Nametoko Valley - Nametoko Valley

A valley in southern Ehime Prefecture, spanning Uwajima City and Matsuno Town in Kitauwa County. It is located in the upper reaches of the Meguro River (a tributary of the Shimanto River) which originates on the eastern foot of Mt. Onigajo (1,151 meters), and stretches for 12 kilometers with an elevation difference of 900 to 300 meters. Biotite granite intrudes into the Mesozoic Shimanto Group, creating deep abysses and Nameri Falls, where water falls like a cloth. Falls such as Kirigataki, Senjojiki, Sannonameri, Okusenjo, and Yukiwa Falls run in succession through the virgin forest. There are also hotels and campsites.

愛媛県南部、宇和島市と北宇和郡松野町にまたがる渓谷。鬼ヶ城(おにがじょう)山（1151メートル）東麓(とうろく)に発する目黒(めぐろ)川（四万十(しまんと)川支流）の上流部にあたり、900～300メートルの標高差で12キロメートルにわたる。中生代四万十層群に黒雲母花崗(くろうんもかこう)岩が貫入し、深淵(しんえん)や布状に流水が落下するなめり滝などをつくる。原生林の中を霧が滝、千畳敷、三のなめり、奥千畳、雪輪の滝などが連続する。ホテルやキャンプ場もある。
