Rustam Dynasty - Rustam

Rustam Dynasty - Rustam
An Islamic dynasty established by the Berbers in North Africa (779-909). Many of the Berbers were members of the Khawarij sect, particularly the moderate Ibadi sect, which was considered heretical by many Arabs in opposition to Arab rule. In 779, under the command of Ibn Rustam, they fled from Kairawan in Tunisia and established a dynasty in Takhart, Algeria. Eventually, under pressure from the Shiite Idris dynasty in the west and the Orthodox Aghlabid dynasty in the east, the dynasty gradually declined, and was destroyed in 909 by the Fatimid dynasty that rose in Morocco.
