Japanese-Chinese mixed writing

Japanese: 和漢混淆文 - わかんこんこうぶん

A type of Japanese literary style. It is a style that combines the vocabulary of Chinese readings and variant Chinese writing with the vocabulary of Japanese writing, such as kana diary stories. Military tales such as "The Tale of the Heike" are representative examples. It is generally written in a mixture of kanji and kana. It flourished from the end of the Heian period until the Meiji period.
