Avertaway - Avertaway

...Population: 189,000 (1993). The name of the city means "Sweyn's ey," but in Welsh it is called Abertawe (meaning "mouth of the river Tawe"). It is a port city on the north shore of the Bristol Channel, facing Swansea Bay. From the 18th century to the early 20th century, it prospered as a shipping port for anthracite produced in the inland coalfields, and copper smelting and tinplate production were also carried out, but after World War II, heavy industries such as petrochemicals, steel, and shipbuilding developed.
