...The book mainly includes the theories of Greek physicians such as Hippocrates, Aristotle, and Galen, and is based on the Syriac translation. In the appendix, it introduces the theories of Indian physicians and attempts to integrate the two medical systems. Yuhannā bin Masawayh (c. 777-857) was a physician to the successive caliphs from Ma'mun to Mutawakkil, and was once the teacher of Hunain bin Ishaq. He left behind a large work on pathology, several treatises, and 132 aphorisms for physicians.
