A city in the north-central part of Tokyo. It was incorporated as a city in 1970. It is located on the Musashino Plateau and was once a farming village on the outskirts of Tokyo, but it rapidly developed into a residential area after the double-tracking of the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. Especially since the 1960s, large housing estates such as Hibarigaoka, which straddles Nishitokyo City, and Takiyama in the southwest of the city were built on former munitions factories. 12.88 km2 .
