A former town in Kida County in the northeastern part of Kagawa Prefecture. It borders Takamatsu City to the east and faces Shido Bay to the east. The Kotoku Line and the Takamatsu-Kotohira Electric Railway Shido Line run through the area, and Takamatsu City is becoming increasingly suburbanized. Rice, wheat, tobacco, and mandarin oranges are cultivated here, and stone is produced. Yakuri-ji Temple, the 85th temple of the 88 Shikoku temples, is located on Mount Goken, which is part of the Setonaikai National Park. In January 2006, it was incorporated into Takamatsu City along with Aji Town in Kida County, Kagawa Town and Konan Town in Kagawa County, and Kokubunji Town in Ayauta County. 16.46 km2 .
