A ballet work. It consists of a prologue, three acts, 13 scenes, and a finale. Libretto by S. Radlov, A. Piotrovsky, L. Lavrovsky, music by S. Prokofiev, choreography by Lavrovsky. Prokofiev composed this work for the 200th anniversary of the Leningrad Ballet School, when he returned to Russia after 15 years in exile. However, it was not performed at first because it had a happy ending. After being performed at the Brno National Theatre in Czechoslovakia in 1938 with choreography by IV Psota, it premiered in Leningrad in 1940 at the Kirov Theatre with G. Ulanova and C. Sergeyev in the lead roles. Based on Shakespeare's original work, it is a masterpiece that depicts a grand drama in a realistic manner. Many revised versions with the same music by Prokofiev have been produced, and many works on the same theme with music by C. Lambert, F. Delius, Berlioz, and others have also been produced.

A tragedy by the English playwright Shakespeare. Five acts. Written around 1594, first published in 1597 as a quarto. Based on Arthur Brooke's long narrative poem The Tragic Story of Romeus and Juliet (62), which itself was inspired by the Italian Tale of Bandello (1554), this tragic fateful play is set in Renaissance Verona and tells the tragic love story between Romeo, the son of the noble Montague family, and Juliet, the daughter of his arch enemy, the Capulet family. Despite the tragic ending, it is a gorgeous play full of youthful energy. Romeo's friend Mercutio and Juliet's nurse are vividly portrayed.

バレエ作品。序幕と3幕 13場，終幕から成る。台本 S.ラドロフ，A.ピオトロフスキー，L.ラブロフスキー，音楽 S.プロコフィエフ，振付ラブロフスキー。レニングラード・バレエ学校の創立 200年祭のために，亡命後 15年ぶりに帰国したプロコフィエフが作曲したが，当初はハッピー・エンドの結末であったため，上演されなかった。 1938年チェコスロバキアのブルノ国立劇場で，I.V.プソタの振付で上演されたのを機に，レニングラードでは 40年，キーロフ劇場において G.ウラノワ，C.セルゲーエフの主役で初演された。シェークスピアの原作に基づき，写実主義的な手法で壮大なドラマを描いた名作。同じプロコフィエフの音楽による多くの改訂版が生れたほか，C.ランバート，F.ディーリアス，ベルリオーズらの音楽による同主題の作品も多い。

イギリスの劇作家シェークスピアの悲劇。5幕。 1594年頃執筆，初版は 97年の四つ折本 (クォート) 。イタリアのバンデッロの物語 (1554) に材を取ったアーサー・ブルックの長編物語詩『ロメウスとジュリエットの悲劇的な物語』 (62) をもとに，ルネサンス時代のベロナを舞台として，名門モンタギュー家の息子ロミオと宿敵キャピュレット家の娘ジュリエットとの悲恋を描いた運命悲劇。悲痛な結末にもかかわらず，若さに満ちあふれた華麗な劇となっている。ロミオの友人マキューシオやジュリエットの乳母がいきいきと描かれている。
