Aizu Nishi Kaido - Aizu Nishi Kaido
A 122km highway that runs from Imaichi in Nikko City in northwest Tochigi Prefecture to Aizu-Wakamatsu City in western Fukushima Prefecture, passing through Ikari, Sanno Pass (906m), and Tajima. Also known as the Nikko Highway. During the Edo period, it connected Aizu and Edo. There were 13 post stations along the way, and people and horses were provided. Most of the road is National Route 121, and it is also a tourist road to Kinugawa Onsen, Kawaji Onsen, and Isori Dam. Sanno Pass is difficult to pass in winter due to heavy snowfall.
